The Nansenne passport is an international document that certifies the identity of the holder and was first issued by the League of Nations to stateless refugees. My story in Norway began twenty years ago when I came to the festival in Chelefjord. Then I could not imagine that in twenty years the inhuman war of the Russian aggressors in Ukraine would begin. Then I did not understand that collective protection would become an actual part of my own universe.

I have been interested in the fate and activities of Fiete Nanson before, especially carefully considering the period of his life, during the creation of the mission in Ukraine. At the end of January 1923, Nansen came to Kharkov to coordinate with the government of the Ukrainian SSR a plan to combat the consequences of the Holodomor and to provide assistance to the republic in difficult times. The Nansen passport was developed in 1922 and issued in Kharkov to help Ukrainians who suffered from famine and political repression. The Nansen passport saved the lives of thousands of refugees. It was this document that helped the systemic process of saving Ukrainians and other peoples of the USSR in the period 1922-38.

Among the holders of the Nansen passport were world famous cultural figures such as Marc Chagall, Igor Stravinsky, Anna Pavlova 100 years have passed, but unfortunately, the situation has not changed, Russia continues the genocide of the Ukrainian people. Today, just as Nansen saved Ukrainians from the genocide in 1922, so now all of Norway and the whole world are saving and supporting the peoples of Ukraine so that we can continue to live.
